THE Zambia National Union of Teachers (ZNUT) on the Copperbelt is not doing enough to ensure that the welfare of the members is improved.
The executive has not held any teachers’ education workshop thus making us question where our contributions go to because, according to the constitution, 30 per cent of teachers’ contributions are supposed to go towards education.
The executive only becomes active during World Teachers Day on October 5 when they distribute cheap T-shirts to teachers.
I wish the Government could come up with a law to compel the Auditor General to look at the accounts books of ZNUT.
Teachers are no longer protected because the ZNUT leadership has failed to supervise district leaders who have now become spokespersons of some District Education Board Secretaries.
