Power 3 Warriors 1
POWER Dynamos shot to the summit of the MTN-FAZ Premier League log after thrashing Kabwe Warriors in this exciting Week One fixture that was delayed for close to 45minutes following a downpour.
But Power did not seem affected with the drenched pitch as they found the back of the net in the third minute through Billy Mutale but Warriors levelled matters in the 21st minute courtesy of a Thomas Mbolela goal.
Kennedy Mudenda restored the lead for Power in the 32nd minute before substitute Jimmy Ndhlovu made sure of the result with a 63rd minute goal as Power went top of the table on goal difference.
Roan 0 Rangers 2
In Luanshya, Rangers got off to flying start thanks to goals by Nawa Nawa in the 40th minute and Martin Daka in the 71st to enjoy early joint leadership on the table.
Zesco 2 Indeni 1
Striker Jackson Mwanza came off the bench to score an important goal that ensured Zesco United started the season on a winning note in a tightly contested Ndola derby against promoted side Indeni, reports MOSES CHIMFWEMBE.
This strongly contested encounter saw the visitors take the lead eight minutes into the game through veteran midfielder Kebby Hachipuka who converted from the spot after Kitwe-based referee Milton Mweemba awarded Indeni a penalty for Kelly Sichilya’s crude challenge on Kalombo Kanda in the box.
Defender Bernard Mapili headed in the equaliser a minute after restart before Mwanza who appeared to be in an offside position scored a match winner in stoppage time with a crisp volley to deny Indeni their first point of the season.
Buffaloes 1 Mine Police 2
Austin Muwowo of Konkola Mine Police scored the first goal of the season but the talk from yesterday’s game was a 90th minute penalty that Green Buffaloes conceded that handed the visitors all three points, reports SHAMAOMA MUSONDA from Woodlands Stadium.
In this early kick-off of the first match of the season, Buffaloes got the worst possible start as Muwowo latched onto the end of a cheeky pass from exciting forward Mushili Chanda to place the ball passed goalie Dave Kaumbwa.
Buffaloes responded with possession play but yielded nothing in the first half until the 76th minute when Sebastian Mwansa smacked in a long range shot for a lifeline which evaporated in the 90th minute when Sanida Zulu handled in the box trying to stop substitute Brian Kilambe.
Andrew Tampwila slotted in the penalty and Mine Police were unlucky that an injury time goal by Kilambe was erroneously called back for offside but by then, the Chililabombwe side had already done the damage.
Blades 0 Napsa 1
Coach Hector Chilombo got a dream start as Napsa boss thanks to a solitary Likonde Chileshe goal in the 27th minute that ensured the midlands side goes back home with maximum points from Konkola Stadium in Chililabombwe.
Assembly 2 Zanaco 2
In the second match played at Woodlands Stadium, National Assembly rallied from 2-0 to snatch a draw against Zanaco in a match of two halves that saw the bankers finish the game with 10 men after Mwelwa Sakala was sent off in the 69th minute.
Zanaco took the lead through an Aubrey Funga deflected shot as early as third minute before Venecious Maphande doubled the scores with a clever finish in the 34th minute to give coach Aggrey Chiyangi a dream start.
But Peter Mwangi announced his intentions to challenge for the golden boot after netting a brace in the 54th and 65th minutes to ensure the two sides shared spoils.
Eagles 0 Nkana 0
Champions Nkana were held to a barren draw by promoted side Green Eagles in a match that saw midfielder Bruce Musakanya start along with Renold ‘Sate Sate’ Kampamba but failed to get the visitors the needed three points.
