ON November 27, 2013, the anti-piracy squad in Mansa stumbled on the K2.3 million worth of porn stash.
Around 15:50 hours, the whole squad collected the material and, after testing, found that it contained detestable sex mind food – some depicting bestiality.
This shows how the world is awash with pornography. The term “pornography” refers to sexually explicit material that is designed to arouse the viewer, reader, or listener.
It can include pictures as well as written and audio material. Pornography may be found in fashion, movies, music and magazines as well as television, videogames, smart-phones, mobile devices, web-sites and on-line photo-sharing services.
It has become a popular culture especially among many youths who seem to consume it more than books at school.
No wonder, as Luapula Province Permanent Secretary Chanda Kasolo acknowledged, pornography has become the sole culprit in the prevalence of sexually-related crimes such as defilement and rape which corrupt the morals.
The fact that in the news we read we find defilement cases and gang-raping should be related to Satanism as a cause.
Pornography is not a harmless pastime, it is a deadly poison.
The fact that it results in evil activities shows that it is not only addictive but imprints and alters the human brain.
Pornographic images trigger an instant, involuntary, but lasting biochemical memory trial that becomes difficult to delete.
It enslaves and wreaks havoc on its victims. Couples break up over porn. So pornography damages marriages and families. It undermines marital trust, intimacy and love.
The fact that viewers of pornography view it secretly, they become secretive and deceitful. Many suffer from feelings of isolation, shame, anxiety, depression and anger.
They become self-absorbed and desperate. Pornography, therefore, promotes selfishness, emotional aloofness and dissatisfaction with one’s mate.
It is for this reason that in our country, pornography is criminal and those exposed to it are law breakers and may be sentenced and jailed or fined. It corrupts morals. It fuels unhealthy sexual fantasies and cravings, tempting users to force objectionable sex practices on their mates. It promotes emotional and physical infidelity.
We need to know that pornography reflects a warped, selfish, Satanic view of sex. We need to respect our procreative powers and use them in an honourable way.
Pornography causes viewers to masturbate, which is an immature, selfish way of acting on our sexual heats. Masturbation is a serious misuse of procreative powers for which God can severely punish someone!
Parents must teach their young ones to run away from the deadly pool of pornography. Young, male ones should not look at women lustfully.
Women or men are not sex tools. They are human beings worthy of respect.
Makers of pornography use them as money-making ventures. Such wicked people who are full of demons in their minds and hearts teach that sex is for sale on the Internet – the way we buy vehicles on the Internet.
We must pray to God to stay away from pornography. Jesus said: “If now that right eye of yours is making you stumble, tear it out and throw it away from you” (Matthew 5:29).
That means praying to God silently to force your eyes to look away from pornography. Identify your weaknesses and avoid them like a plague.
Feel your mind with thoughts that you read from school books or newspapers or the Bible.
School-going youths, replace pornographic thoughts with essays from history books or geography or literature books. Memorise these things, not pornography!
Our country then will be free of HIV/AIDS infections and graves, defilement and rape cases.
We will channel our funds to other aspects of national development and will decongest our prisons of inmates of sexually-related offences.
