CHIPOLOPOLO captain Christopher Katongo made his debut for Lamontville Golden Arrows but could not help his new club from enduring a 2-1 home defeat to Mpumalanga Black Aces.
Katongo, who signed a four-month contract with the bottom-placed Arrows side, played full 90 minutes along with Joseph Musonda, while striker Festus Mbewe lasted 68 minutes.
Another Zambian player, Clifford Mulenga came as a substitute for Aces in the 90th minute.
According to Backpage TXT, Rudolf Bester cancelled Method Mwanjali’s first-half opener but Aces pushed on for the win with Themba Zwane netting the winner deep into the second half.
Abafana Bes’thende (as Arrows are fondly called) almost found the equaliser in the 56th minute through Katongo who connected with a cross from Deon Hotto, only to see his header kept out by Jackson Mabokgwane.
Elsewhere, Chipolopolo defender Davies Nkausu played the entire match as his Bloemfontein Celtic side defeated 10-man Polokwane City 2-1 in an Absa Premiership clash at Kaizer Sebothelo Stadium in Botshabelo on Wednesday evening.
