THE death of 13 people in an accident involving a Rosa minibus and a truck laden with mealie-meal near Kamfinsa on the Ndola-Kitwe Dual Carriageway is heartbreaking.
What makes this tragedy even more painful is the fact that it happened just a day after 5 people perished on the spot when a Toyota Hiace Minibus they were travelling in had a rear tyre burst and overturned in Ibenga area on Luanshya – Mpongwe Road.
It’s obvious the horror at Kamfinsa could not have happened had it not been for the ongoing rehabilitation of the Dual Carriageway.
The Kamfinsa tragedy should be a wakeup call to those working on the Ndola-Kitwe Dual Carriageway.
I use this road every fortnight and I feel the works on this road have been moving at a snail’s pace.
Let the contractors speed up the works on that road without compromising on its quality. We are already seeing pot holes on the stretches that have been worked on. How can that be?
I send my condolences to the bereaved families and a quick recovery to the survivors of these two tragedies. And may the souls of our fallen fellow citizens rest in eternal peace.
