By SHAMAOMA MUSONDA –
FOOTBALL Association of Zambia (FAZ) president Andrew Kamanga says qualifying for the men’s senior World Cup will be the best way to honour the victims of the 1993 Gabon crash.
In his weekly column, the President’s Corner and marking 32 years of the Gabon disaster, Kamanga said winning the senior 2012 Africa Cup of Nations remained a partial fulfilment of the dreams of the Gabon crash victims.
He said until this was achieved, the push to honour the 30 members of the April 28, 1993, would remain a debt not paid.
“Though we have partially honoured their memory by capturing the Africa Cup of Nations and seeing other national squads (women and other age groups) qualify for the World Cup, our senior men’s team’s World Cup qualification remains an unfulfilled dream in our nation’s six-decade history.
