GOVERNMENT has declared war on the devastating armyworm, procuring 55, 000 litres of pesticides to halt their invasion on crops.
The crop-munching pests have so far caused havoc on more than 300, 000 hectares of maize fields in all the 116 districts countrywide.
Ministry of Agriculture principal public relations officer Balewa Zyuulu said yesterday that FAW had infested an estimated 316, 764.37 hectares of maize fields across 2, 456 out of 2, 728 agricultural camps and affecting 596, 255 farming households.
