THE United Nations Food Agricultural Organisation (FAO) says there is a need to develop a trans-boundary regime between Zambia and Zimbabwe on the Zambezi River basin.
This would improve fisheries and aquaculture management and promote the development of the fisheries and aquaculture sectors on Lake Kariba.
FAO’s Fisheries and Aquaculture sub-regional officer for Southern Africa Vosco Schmidt said the current trans-boundary regimes did not adequately address over-exploitation of fish resources, social conflicts and environmental impacts that affect fishery resources.
