MILLERS have imported 90 percent of the total wheat requested for this year to bridge the deficit gap.
Millers Association of Zambia (MAZ) president Andrew Chitala said millers were ready to buy the local harvest although a low production was anticipated.
Mr Chintala said millers were earlier this year allowed to import 20,000 tonnes of wheat into the country until the local harvest was ready.
He said a duty waiver was granted and that 90 percent of the total wheat requested was imported from February to the end of last month.
