ZAMBIA Under-15 team coach William Njobvu has described as painful his side missing out on the CAF 2024 African Schools Football Championship after a 4-2 defeat on post-match penalties against South Africa during the COSAFA qualifiers finals in Walvis Bay, Namibia.
The team secured US$75,000 (about K1, 950,000) as runners-up money after a tightly contested 1-1 draw in regulation time.
Despite finishing as runners-up, Zambia dominated the awards with striker Sydney Zulu winning his second Player-of-the- Match award while Temwani Simfukwe won the Player-of-the-Tournament after scoring three goals, one short of Malawi’s Okester Kanyenda, who took the golden boot.
