INDEPENDENT Power Producers (IPPs) and some members of the business community in Lusaka are among stakeholders urging the Energy Regulation Board (ERB) to approve Zesco’s emergency electricity tariff adjustment.
Meanwhile, ERB board chairperson James Banda has revealed that the board will announce its verdict on the application to the public on Thursday this week.
Speaking during a public hearing held on the application in Lusaka yesterday, association of power companies’ representative Sipho Phiri said if approved, the cost reflective tariff structure would unlock an investment of 2,000 Megawatts (MW) of power from the private sector into the national electricity grid.
