THE Zambia National Farmers Union (ZNFU) has commended the Government for increasing the budgetary allocation towards the agricultural sector.
ZNFU president Jervis Zimba said the union was elated with the significant allocations towards the Farmer Input Support Programme (FISP). Government allocated K9.3 billion to FISP, targeting over one million farmers.
Mr Zimba said in a statement that the union also noted with gratitude the allocation of about K2.4 billion to the strategic food reserve and the Sustainable Agriculture Financing Facility (SAFF).
He said the increase in allocations to FISP, strategic food reserves and SAFF are significant and will benefit the farmers in the country.
