THE Zambia Table Tennis players had a fruitful outing in Botswana winning five medals, three gold and two bronze at the 2024 Independence Invitational tournament sponsored by Phoenix Assurance in Gaborone.
The three gold medals were clinched by Charles Banda in the men’s singles with Paul Lungu and Grace Kapula securing their gold in the under-15 boys and girls categories.
Banda emerged champion in his category after a series of wins in the round-robin matches with Lungu clinching the gold medal after beating Thato Kgongwa and Reneilwe Lekorwe with identical 3-0 wins in the semi-finals and finals respectively.
