VICE-PRESIDENT W.K Mutale-Nalumango says K246.6 million has been set aside in the 2025 National Budget for the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU) to carry out disaster and humanitarian operations management.
Ms Mutale-Nalumango said of the allocation, K18 million was a donor component to support borehole drilling, while K175.1 million was under the drought insurance payout.
She said this when she rendered a policy statement on the DMMU budgetary allocation before the Parliamentary Committee on Cabinet Affairs in Lusaka yesterday.
