THE Zambia men’s chess team has failed to qualify for the World Cup after losing 0.5-3.5 to Tunisia which saw them plunge outside the top 80 qualification benchmark set at the Budapest 2024 World Olympiads.
Meanwhile, the women’s team qualification was put on ice owing to some modalities that were being considered in their category to earn a place at the World Cup.
The men’s team was expected to finish among the top 80 teams out of the 190 competing at the 45th edition of the competition that ended yesterday to book a ticket to the World Cup scheduled for Uzbekistan in 2025.
