PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema has said the Government is up to the task to achieve set economic targets despite the unexpected drought and its effects.
Speaking during a graduation ceremony at Rusangu University in Monze District yesterday, the President said the projected growth of 4.7 per cent Gross Domestic Product (GDP) had been negatively affected by the drought but that despite the challenges, the Government was committed to ensure the economy remained on course.
Mr Hichilema said the drought had brought about new challenges such as the need to diversify the energy sector and bring in alternative power sources such as solar and wind energy.
