COMMERCE, Trade and Industry Minister Chipoka Mulenga says Zambia is ready to set up an Electric Vehicle Batteries (EVB) manufacturing plant at the Ndola Special Economic Zone (SEZ).
Mr Mulenga said in an interview the Government was only waiting for the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to conclude constituting its Cabinet before moving forward in setting up the plant.
“As you may already be aware the DRC are just coming from an election so they need some time to constitute their Cabinet after which we will move forward to set up the EVB manufacturing plant in Ndola,” he said.
Mr Mulenga explained that feasibility studies for the EVB manufacturing plant had already been concluded and that the two Governments could have already gone into the market to bring in investors to set up the facilities.
