THE British American Tobacco (BAT) Zambia has paid taxes to the Government amounting to K218.5 million, in the six month period ending June, 30 this year.
The taxes are in the form of excise duty, Value Added Tax (VAT), Pay as You Earn (PAYE), withholding tax, customs duty and corporate income tax amounting to K218.5 million.
The taxes paid increased by 16 percent compared to the same period last year.
BATZ stated in the half year results ending June 30 this year that the gross revenue increased by 35 percent to K 580.5 million, driven by an optimal pricing strategy implemented during the period.
