Zambia needs $10bn to up power generation – State

THE Government says the country needs about $10 billion investment in power generation for the next 10 years to increase production and mitigate the challenge of energy inefficiency.
Green Economic and Environment acting Permanent Secretary Ranford Simumbwe said the country needed about $5 billion for on-grid generation, $2.5 billion for transmission and distribution and $2.5 billion off grid generation.
Mr Simumbwe said it was for this reason that the country was considering carbon trade as a co-financing source to address the energy challenge.
