THE Lusaka Magistrate Court yesterday heard how former Foreign Affairs minister Joseph Malanji inflated the cost of the three storey chancery building bought in Turkey for embassy staff from US$1.127 million to US$4 million.
Before Ireen Wishimanga, was Mukelabai Kwaleyela, who testified that the former minister immediately after the change of Government on August 31, 2021, fabricated a document which stated that the chancery in Turkey was bought at US$4 million when the actual sale documents stated $1.15 million inclusive of taxes.
He said the doctored document was released immediately after the new Government took office despite an audit report which brought out irregularities in the movements of the funds having been released earlier on.
