ZESCO Limited has initiated another claw back of power exports to mitigate the deficit prevailing from the current unavailability of 150 Megawatts (MW) on the national electricity grid from Maamba Energy.
Spokesperson Matongo Maumbi said in a statement issued in Lusaka yesterday that Zesco was also unable to get about 100 MW in scheduled power imports, due to a route constraint on the Namibian course, further compounding the country’s power deficit.
“Zesco acknowledges, with regret, that some of its customers particularly those in Lusaka have experienced extended power rationing of about 20 hours as the corporation has had to institute emergency load management to achieve network stability,” Mr Maumbi said.
