THE Millers Association of Zambia (MAZ) has so far imported 140,000 tonnes of wheat out of the 200,000 tonnes target, to cushion the deficit in the country.
MAZ president Andrew Chintala said the importation of wheat into the country which was granted by the Government in March his year, had neared completion.
Mr Chintala said in an interview that the permit was granted to import 100,000 of B1 wheat and due to the huge deficit, another 100,000 was added.
He said so far 140,000 tonnes out of 200,000 tonnes accounting for 70 percent of the total wheat was imported.
