COPPER cathodes worth about K16 million have disappeared while in transit on the Chingola- Chililabombwe Road.
The merchandise is believed to have been diverted by two Congolese drivers, who abandoned their already emptied trucks.
Copperbelt police Commanding Officer Peacewell Mweemba said that the matter was reported to Chingola Central Police by Jackson Kanyinga of Kitwe on behalf of Polytra Zambia Limited.
Mr Mweemba said the trucks, were a Scania registration number 8992 and trailer, 8991, driven by Azim Lumingu Lumbu carrying 19 bundles of copper cathodes valued at K8, 430, 000 and a Benz registration number 8994AC22, trailer, 8993AC22 laden with 18 bundles worth K8, 446, 256, believed to have been stolen by the driver identified as Alphonse Ekanga Wungudi.
