PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema has urged Vedanta Resources Limited to prioritise the development of the Konkola Deep Mine Project (KDMP) to achieve the production target of 300,000 tonnes of copper per year.
He said that the Government was determined to have the copper mining industry produce three millions tonnes of copper per year in the next decade and development of KDMP in Chililabombwe would contribute to achieving the desired target.
Speaking at the official handover of Konkola Copper Mine (KCM) assets to Vedanta Resources in Chililabombwe yesterday, Mr Hichilema said that the Government had done its part hence the need for the mining firm to reciprocate by expanding production.
