• PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema consoles Chipo Mwanawasa and family members when he visited the funeral house to mourn late former First Lady Maureen Mwanawasa in Lusaka’s Roma Park yesterday.

By JOSEPH BANDA –
PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema has lamented the passing of former First Lady Maureen Mwanawasa as a great loss to the nation.
The President said this yesterday when he went to pay his respects to the family of the deceased in Roma Park.
Mr Hichilema also signed a book of condolences.
He intimated to the Kakubo and Mwanawasa families that the Government was saddened by the death of Ms Mwanawasa especially that she was recently in good health but her sickness deteriorated so fast.
“Sincere condolences to the Mwanawasa and Kakubo families for the loss of Mrs Maureen Mwanawasa. The family and country have lost a great daughter of ours. We pray to God for strength to carry on from where she has left things. We are fully committed to supporting the family in all ways possible,” President Hichilema wrote in the book of condolence.
