‘2021 elections heralded renewed hope for Zambia’

THE election of President Hakainde Hichilema and the United Party for National Development (UPND) into Government on August 12, 2021, heralded renewed hope to give Zambia a brighter future, State House Special Assistant to the President for Policy Compliance Joseph Lungu has said.
Commenting on UPND three years in power, Mr Lungu said in a statement issued in Lusaka yesterday that citizens could reflect on the New Dawn administration’s third anniversary in office with pride, seeing a nation crawling out of despair into hope.
“Amidst the challenges we face, there is reason to believe that we are headed in the right direction. Where would we have been today as a country and indeed a people if we did not decide to vote for President Hakainde Hichilema and the UPND three years ago today? (yesterday). August 12, 2021 is somewhat another Independence Day from some form of colonialism, the difference only that this was by our own supposedly fellow citizens,” Mr Lungu said.
