REIGNING Commonwealth 400m champion Muzala Samukonga easily stormed the men’s 400m semi-finals at the ongoing Paris 2024 Olympic Games after clocking an impressive 44.56 seconds to win his heat.
“It’s a good start for me. I knew I would win the heat, so I was on the ease. I didn’t want to put myself under pressure. What was important was for me to qualify for the semi-finals and not pay attention to the time. I am happy to qualify to the semi-finals,” Samukonga said in an interview.
Samukonga made a stunning Olympic debut, blazing to a first-place finish beating his role model Bayapo Ndori of Botswana with a scorching 0.31 mili-seconds despite cruising towards the finish line with ease.
