SPORTS Minister Elvis Nkandu says his ministry will work hard to help the Zambia Basketball Federation (ZBF) with the K1.6 million needed for the under-18 boys and girls teams to the Africa Championship in South Africa next month.
Speaking when the ZBF executive members led by their patron Gilbert Liswaniso paid a courtesy call on him yesterday, Nkandu said the government may not fund every sport’s international outing.
“As we prepare our teams for this prestigious tournament, we request support from the corporate, and private sectors. We are all aware that we have a lot of challenges in the country, we have a drought situation which has led to budget cuts across all ministries,” he said.
