Govt cuts power exports by 150MW

THE Government has said power exports have reduced further to help strengthen local electricity supply.
Energy Minister Peter Kapala says the exports have now been reduced to 260 MegaWatts (MW) from 530MW following further negotiation with the export market.
Mr Kapala said in an interview that the reduction in export of power was aimed at boosting local supply.
“Exports reduced from 530MW down to 270MW and have now reduced to 260MW. From Botswana they have reduced from 80MW to 60 MW .This is all power from Maamba Collieries and contracted on that receivable basis,” he said.
