FINANCE and National Planning Minister Situmbeko Musokotwane says the Government has no intention of reintroducing currency controls abolished in 1993.
Dr Musokotwane said elements such as the draft foreign currency regulations and the possibility of phasing out cheques were merely aimed at enhancing financial sector stability and making the process of transactions more efficient.
Mr Musokotwane said this in a ministerial statement he rendered to Parliament yesterday.
He said last month, the Bank of Zambia (BOZ) began a consultation process regarding the draft foreign currency regulation through the Public Private Dialogue Forum (PPDF).
