Chinese firm offers power solutions

A CHINESE international company, Power China has offered to help Zambia come up with a national energy and water resource management plan to counter the challenges currently being faced as a result of drought.
China Power Group vice president for East and Southern Africa Jason Liu said the concept on the water plan involved moving water from the Luapula river to the Kafue basin where it could be used for power generation and irrigation purposes.
Mr Liu also said proposed that his firm was ready to embark on installing roof solar panels on households so that power generated from other sources could channeled to production in industries such as mines.
