FORMER president Edgar Lungu has lost his bid to have the Constitutional Court (ConCourt) dismiss a petition challenging his eligibility to contest future elections.
The petition was filed by Lusaka youth activist Michelo Chizombe who cited Mr Lungu, the Attorney General and the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) as first, second and third respondents in a matter where he also wanted the court to declare that the ECZ’s inclusion of Mr Lungu on the 2021 presidential ballot was unconstitutional.
Mr Lungu had raised a preliminary application through his lawyers asking whether the fresh action against him was rightly before court as it had previously and severally pronounced itself on the matter.
