Matete hopeful of Parisbound men’s relay team

FORMER 400m hurdles world champion Samuel Matete is excited with news of the Zambia 4x400m men’s relay team’s qualification for the Paris Olympics hoping they will end the country’s 29-year medal droughts at the Games.
The Muzala Samukonga-led relay team secured their ticket to the Paris Games after Jamaica failed to beat their time of 2:59.12 minutes in their last qualifying attempt on deadline day.
Speaking in an interview yesterday, Matete hailed the team for securing their ticket to the Olympic Games.
He said the 2024 Paris Games would be the battle of the best, looking at the caliber of athletes in the relays.
