Govt to reduce ministries’ budgets

FINANCE and National Planning Minister Situmbeko Musokotwane has explained that the budgets of ministries will be cut by between 30 to 35 per cent to help the country save resources to support drought relief interventions.
Dr Musokotwane said the cost cutting measures would hinge on doing away with unnecessary travel and workshops to enable more resources to be channelled towards feeding the people.
He was speaking when he featured on a Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation television programme called Sunday Interview, where he explained in detail the content of the K41.9 billion supplementary budget he presented to Parliament recently, to help the country recover from the prevailing drought situation.
