ZAMBIA has signed a K350 million financing agreement with Germany and the European Union (EU) to improve the water and energy sectors in urban, peri-urban and rural areas across six provinces in the country.
The project dubbed Nexus Energy and Water Programme for Zambia (NEWZA), targeted to benefit over 500, 000 people in the six provinces and would be implemented over a four year period.
Water Development and Sanitation Permanent Secretary Joe Kalusa, EU Head of Cooperation to Zambia and COMESA Claudio Bacigalupi and German International Cooperation (GIZ) Zambia Water and Energy Cluster Coordinator Anke Peine-Ellis signed the Financing Agreement during the Zambia Water Forum and Exhibition in Lusaka yesterday.
