CABINET has formally approved the Open Access Policy which will give more opportunities to private investors in the energy sector to generate and supply electricity to willing customers in Zambia and other countries.
President Hakainde Hichilema, who chaired the Cabinet meeting at State House on Monday, said the Open Access Policy would allow independent power producers to generate and supply electricity to both local and foreign consumers.
The President said this when outgoing British High Commissioner to Zambia Nicholas Woolley called on him to bid farewell at State House yesterday.
