ZAMBIA seems set to ramp up copper production this year and posted a 24-per cent rise in the first quarter of this year amid increasing prices on the world market
Mines and Minerals Development Permanent Secretary Hapenga Kabeta says this is despite the power supply hurdles facing the country.
Dr Kabeta said in an interview in Kitwe yesterday on the sidelines of the Copperbelt, Agriculture, Mining, Industrial, Networking Expo (CAMINEX) that in the first quarter of 2024, production went up to nearly 200,000 tonnes or by 24 per cent.
