IMF pleads for Zambia

THE International Monetary Fund (IMF) has told the financial community that the agreement between Zambia and the Steering Committee of the Ad Hoc Creditor Committee of Eurobond holders will provide significant external debt service relief and contribute to Zambia’s efforts to restore debt sustainability.
IMF managing director Kristalina Georgieva said the terms of the agreement had been assessed by the Fund as being in line with the parameters of the IMF-supported programme taking into account the confirmation by the Official Creditors Committee (OCC) that the agreed terms were consistent with the comparability of treatment among creditors.
