Vegetables body seeks potato imports

THE Zambia Fruits and Vegetables Association (ZFVA) has been engaged by the Ministry of Agriculture to import 4,000 tonnes of potatoes per month from South Africa.
ZFVA General Secretary Gideon Kalima said this would cushion the shortage of potatoes in the country.
Mr Kalima said in an interview that the decision to import the potatoes was made at a stakeholders meeting after which an approval to open the borders was given by the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA).
