Zambia-China trade in $6bn record value

THE Zambia-China two way trade has continued to register an upward growth, reaching a record value of $6.73 billion in 2022.
Commerce, Trade and Industry Minister Chipoka Mulenga observed that this year, Chinese investments in Zambia’s mining sector had reached $1.5 billion.
Mr Mulenga who was represented by Technology and Science Minister Felix Mutati, at the Chinese Chamber in Commerce (CCCZ) gala dinner in Lusaka that a tune of over $2.3 million had been invested in the energy sector as well.
He said $1.3 billion Kariba North Bank extension project in 2014 was financed by China as well.
