THE Government is to launch a K4.5 billion World Bank sponsored facility for capital and administrative programmes for 96 local authorities across Zambia.
Local Government and Rural Development Permanent Secretary for technical services Nicholas Phiri said the Zambia Devolution Support Programme, to be funded by the World Bank US$200 million facility, will enhance the operations of rural councils.
Mr Phiri explained that added to the programme, which will have two windows, excludes city and municipal authorities.
“We have another programme that is targeting rural councils across the country. This facility will help these councils to undertake various development programmes to ensure that service delivery is efficient.
