THE Scrabble Association of Zambia (SAZ) has picked a 10-member squad to compete at the two-day Collins Cup tournament to be held South Africa this weekend.
SAZ general secretary Patrick Mpundu said in an interview yesterday said that both Zambia and South Africa want to use the tournament, to be held on March 8 to 9, to prepare for the Eastern, Central and Southern Africa (ECASA) championship slated for next month.
“This competition will be between Zambia and South Africa and it will greatly help the two countries adequately prepare for the ECASA tournament. The team is expected to leave either Thursday or Friday,” he said.
He paid tribute to SAZ president Sydney Kalema for personally buying bus tickets for the group after the association failed to raise money for air tickets adding that the players were ready for the tournament.

The ECASA tournament which will be sponsored by First Quantum Minerals (FQM) is scheduled for April 17 to 21 at Andrews Motel in Lusaka.
