ZAMBIA’S CAF Confederation Cup envoys, Zesco United jetted into their Mozambican battlefront on Wednesday evening ahead of Sunday’s crucial first round, first leg clash against Ferroviario da Beira.
The 36-member delegation led by FAZ committee member, Jeff Chipilingo and club executive member, Namwila Mfula, which left in the early hours of Wednesday, arrived at Beira International Airport around 18:45 hours and was met by officials from the Zambian High Commission in Mozambique and Ferroviario.
Sunday’s match will be the first assignment for new coach George Lwandamina who took over the reigns at Zesco last week from Tenant Chembo after the club realigned its technical staff.
According to a statement posted on Zesco’s website yesterday, the team is accommodated at Rainbow Hotel on the coast of the Indian Ocean.
Yesterday, Zesco had their first work out in the morning as the team gets ready for Sunday’s showdown.
Lwandamina took 18 players to Mozambique who include international midfielders, Kondwani Mtonga and Justin Zulu.
