THE Chifundo Brothers are a contemporary Ndola-based gospel trio that announced themselves on the local music scene in 2008.
Chifundo Soko, Tony Kaimana and Sunday Ngoma have in the last four years produced two albums carrying 24 powerful praise and worship
songs.
Chifundo meaning “mercy” in the local language is a name that the trio blended with their brotherhood to preach the word of God to the masses.
“The group came together in 2008 and we produced our first album titled Ndangeni-Inshila with twelve songs,” the trio told Times
Entertainment.
Soko says the group thought that from the moment they discovered their individual talents, the Chifundo Brothers would compose songs with a drive to transform many lives for the better.
The songs on Ndangeni-Inshila were blended with a rich vein of languages like Bemba, Swahili, Chewa, Ndebele, and Thumbuka.
“This will make it easy for us to minister in any country where these languages are prominent and people would understand the message that we carry,” they narrated.
In 2012, the trio who are members of the praise team and congregants at Healing Tabernacle Assembly in Chifubu produced their second album titled Mundwile.
Mundwile when translated in Bemba talks of how one asks another to fight a battle on their behalf.
“In-short, we are saying that every battle in life belongs to God and mankind should by all means put their faith in Christ alone to win the race for them,” they explained.
The second album also carried twelve songs and was well received by the masses in places as far as Western Province, with title track
Nanikutandani winning many favourites.
With their two albums, the trio have gone on to minister on various platforms at concerts, crusades and album launches.
Among the artistes that the trio have collaborated with include Dorcas, Roberta, and Ausward Chitete.
Now as they look forward to work on their third project, the Chifundo Brothers envisage scooping coveted global awards such as the Kora and Grammies.
