State to contest Chitotela’s discharge

THE State is set to appeal against former Tourism minister Ronald Chitotela’s discharge by a Lusaka Magistrate’s Court yesterday on charges of being in possession of property believed to be proceeds of crime.
Lusaka Principal Magistrate Jennipher Bwalya sitting as Economic and Financial Crimes Court in Lusaka discharged Chitotela, the Patriotic Front Pambashe Member of Parliament (MP) of two counts with a quick reminder that the verdict was not an acquittal as he could be re-arrested any time.
