‘Zambia’s rice output to decline’

THE national output for rice this year is expected to drop by 5.46 per cent to 62,280 tonnes from 65,876 tonnes recorded last year, according to the latest crop survey report.
The drop in production has been attributed to adverse weather conditions that have adversely affected cereals.
The report indicated the Government was keen to ensure a sustained increase in rice production which was arguably the second staple food after maize.
