Help curb online violence against women, NGOCC urges ZICTA

THE Non-Governmental Gender Organisation Coordinating Council (NGOCC) has challenged the Zambia Information and Communications Authority (ZICTA) to help curb online violence against women and girls.
Outgoing NGOCC executive director Engwase Mwale condemned the increased levels of cyber bullying, hate speech, ridicule and online violence against women leaders from both private and public sector.
Ms Mwale said according to findings by the Zambia National Women’s Lobby, a total of 554 cases of cyber bullying and online violence monitored on social platforms such as Facebook, WhatsApp and on Twitter, were recorded during the run-up to the 2021 general elections.
