Lusaka firm to produce fuel from used tyres

CENTRAL African Renewable Energy (CARE) says the current waste in Lusaka is enough to sustain the production of fuel for the next five years. CARE has developed a petroleum refinery producing petrol, diesel and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) from used tyres and plastics in Lusaka. Group director Mulenga Mulenga said in an interview that the current waste in Lusaka was enough for the refinery to produce 200 tonnes (200,000 litres) of fuel per day in the next five years.
