Govt halts mining activities at Broken Hill Man heritage site

THE Government has with immediate effect banned mining activities that had escalated at the Broken Hill Man national monument site in Kabwe. The Broken Hill Man skull was discovered on June 17, 1921 at Kopje by a Swiss miner Tom Zwigelaar during mining operations with the site being declared a national heritage on August 26, 2019.
Central Province Permanent Secretary Milner Mwanakampwe expressed sadness after noticing that the flat hill had been deformed by illegal mining activities.
