A UGANDAN traditional healer has been slapped with a K3, 000 fine of by the Solwezi Magistrate’s Court for practicing without a permit.
The Solwezi Magistrates Court on Friday convicted and sentenced the Ugandan traditional healer, Mukonde Mulusizi, 21, to a fine or in default nine months simple imprisonment for engaging in business without a permit.
Mulusizi is one of the eight Ugandan traditional healers arrested during an operation conducted on February 10, 2014 by the Solwezi Regional Immigration Office.
Court proceedings for the other seven are still ongoing.
This is according to a statement released by Immigration Department Public relations officer Namati Nshinka.
And Mr Nshinka said the Magistrate’s Court in Kitwe on Friday convicted and sentenced a Tanzanian to a fine of K1,500 or in default six months simple imprisonment for unlawful stay.
Francis Siwiti Simon, 22, was arrested on February 11, this year by Immigration officers in Parklands area, Kitwe after he failed to produce legal travel documents.
He was subsequently deported on Saturday after paying the fine.
The same court also convicted and sentenced a Malian to a fine of K3,000 or in default six months simple imprisonment for unlawful stay.
Ibrahim Cisse, 21, who entered Zambia on September 6, last year via Kenneth Kaunda International Airport as a visitor was arrested on February 17, 2014 by Immigration officers in Kitwe for staying longer than authorised.
He has since paid the court fine and was scheduled for deportation.
Meanwhile, the Mongu Regional Immigration Office on Friday arrested a former Angolan refugee who decided to return to Zambia shortly after being repatriated to Angola.
